Tony Norman muses on Congressman Steve King’s attempt to keep Harriet Tubman off the double sawbuck and on King’s claim that racism has nothing to do with it. Here’s a bit:
The prospect of honoring Harriet Tubman, an ex-slave, an early American feminist and symbol of the Underground Railroad movement at the expense of Andrew “Old Hickory” Jackson was too much for the Iowa Republican who considers the elevation of any woman or minority evidence of President Barack Obama’s “radical agenda.”
Afterthought:
Maybe it’s a side-effect of Trumpery, but really, they’re not really trying to hide the racism any more. They’ve stopped whistling for the dogs; they are now calling them by name.
