All the News that Fits 0

Michael in Norfolk find the dissimulation disturbing.

Most troubling, however, is the effort of much of the news media to report on Trump as if he were a sane and normal candidate . . . .

Vaccine Nation 0

At Psychology Today Blogs, Dr. L. Kenneth Zweig points out that, despite the scare-mongering from anti-VAXXers, side effects from vaccinations are almost always good things. A snippet:

A vaccine should trigger an immune reaction, so feeling ill after vaccination is a positive sign. It indicates that the body is building immunity. Experiencing mild symptoms means the immune system responds as expected, reducing the likelihood of severe illness later. Those who do not experience symptoms after a vaccine will still likely develop immunity without noticeable side effects.

Al Pearce wonders that driver Bubba Wallace may be the most reviled–by racing fans, that is–driver on the NASCAR circuit. In his article, he says,

I know why Bubba Wallace is the most reviled driver in Cup Series racing. Trouble is, I just don’t understand why.

Methinks that, in his article, he makes it pretty clear he does understand why. But the why is not pretty and he doesn’t like what it is.

Twits Own Twitter X Offenders 0

As you may have heard, Elon Musk has sued a number of advertisers for not advertising on Xcretion. At Above the Law, Joe Patrice comments. A snippet:

Compelled speech is the new free speech! As opposed to protecting the freedom to express yourself free of government reprisal, Musk envisions free speech as welfare for white supremacists — an affirmative obligation to financially underwrite the people who’ve gone bankrupt in the marketplace of ideas.

“Too bigoted to fail,” if you will.

Making Minions 0

At the Idaho State Journal, Leonard Hitchcock looks at why Donald Trump wanted to use an executive order (“Schedule F”) turn civil service jobs over to political appointees who would do his bidding without question. Here’s a bit from his article:

And then there’s a third cause: it turns out that Trump wants to be an autocrat. While president, he was openly envious of the power of the dictators that he met with. And all of his delusions regarding his own superiority have led him to believe that he deserves to have that kind of power.

The Schedule F executive order was a step in that direction. For an autocrat, a government must speak with one voice: that of its ruler.

So know this: witch hunts don’t just kill witches. I mean, they don’t kill any witches but you take my point: a witch hunt is a witch hunt because it finds witches wherever it can, and a trans hunt will do the same.
