The Enemy Below 10

No, not Dick Cheney.

Just one of the best war movies ever made (and the book was better). And I stumbled on it tonight. (Yes, I have seen Saving Private Ryan. No, I haven’t seen Das Boot.)

The only better WWII movie I ever saw was Beach Red. (And, once again, the book–in this case a poem, was better.)

99% of the time, the book is better. “To Kill a Mockingbird” was a fantastic book. My favorite of all time. The screen writers stayed pretty close, & the movie was very well done. Gregory Peck as Atticus was classic. The best choice.

    Karen,
I so agree with you. This is so ironic. “To Kill a Mockingbird”, is my favorite book, my favorite movie, I have it on tape, and I even saw a stage version of it, which was great See if you did live closer we would be great friends.

The greatest movie of all time was Napoleon Dynamite, and the book would have been better than the movie, if there had been a book.

The 1% not embraced by Karen’s statement was M*A*S*H. The movie was better than the book, and the TV show was better than the movie.

I liked the book better than the movie, but the show was the best.

What was the other one that was floating around at the same time? Something along the same lines, but the more I try to remember it, the further away the title gets.

As I recall, Catch 22 and M*A*S*H were both released in 1970.

Frank, if you haven’t seen Das Boot, you should. It’s so good you may find yourself rooting for the Germans.

I watched part of Das Boot the other night, but at 11:00 p. m. I ran out of gas.

I remember many years ago seeing a hokie Spanish pirate movie dubbed into English. (It was just as hokie as most U. S. pirate movies.) I found myself rooting for the Spaniards.
