I toyed with blogging about this and got distracted by the local rally for health care.
Now, Karen has saved me the trouble of thinking about what to say.
I agree/disagree with part of what she has to say about sex education. I agree with what she says about what should be.
But we all know that the should be just ain’t. I know lots of parents. I know about one who has managed to approach the ideal she describes. (And it’s not me.)
I agree with her that if it’s got to be in the schools, the schools should focus on reality.
And the reality is that most kids are going to want to and some kids are going to have sex, despite what their parents, preachers, and teachers tell them.
Kids must be prepared to protect themselves and others from pregnancy and illness.
