Have Cake, Eat It Too, Rand Paul Dept. 3
Persons who call themselve “Libertarians say that they believe in the Constitution (indeed, they speak of it almost as if it were inerrant), except, of course, when they don’t.
On the same topic, the Atlanta Journal Constitution recalls a pamphlet from the 1964 Goldwater campaign:
Did you know that Lyndon Johnson’s Civil Rights Bill can get you fired from your job and give it to a person of another race? No matter what ability you have to do your job … or how much seniority you have on your job … you can lose your job because of Johnson’s Civil Rights Bill. This is your last chance. Vote to put an end to racial favoritism…vote to protect your job…your family…your home.

If you had any integrity at all you would challenge the leader of your morally bankrupt party to reinstitute habeas corpus, you’d insist that torture end, and you’d ask why the war in Iraq has not ended. But intsead, you are still stuck in the world of 1964, looking for the boogyman racist in every closet when their gross civil rights abuses going on right now that you refuse to say anything about. Ra-ra-ra Blue Team!

Have you actually read what I’ve written?
I have no truck with torture nor with violations of civil liberties.
Concomitantly, I choose not to live in a fantasy world where waving a magic want can turn everything into sweetness and light. Somewhere along the line, I grew up.
Put your money where your mouth is. Contribute to the ACLU, as I do every month.

DannyThomas, you are mistaken in your take of his post.
1964 is being brought up because that idiot Paul is doing it. He’s the person who would like to see owners of a diner be able to tell a black or gay person he won’t serve them. Not Frank.
It wasn’t the Democrats who did away with habuas corpus, but the PRIOR administration. Who still thinks it ok to hold someone indefinately, without being charged.
How do I know all this? Because I’ve read his (Frank’s) stuff for years & paid attention. As well as other authors & newspapers. And, I have a brain that functions. No, I won’t contribute to the ACLU, as he’s suggested a few (?) times, simply because I think differently than he does. But I’m adult enough & have lived long enough, to remember what that numbnuts Rand Paul would like to bring back & I object to it.
Please feel free to remove your feet from your mouth.
