Opsail 2012 Norfolk 0

Panorama of Masts

Second Son is in town with the Pride of Baltimore II, so I went over to Norfolk Harbor to join him at Opsail. Here are a few shots; there will be more during the week as I get them edited. (I posted pictures of the Pride II once before.)

U S S Wisconsin

The USS Wisconsin is on permanent exhibit at the Hampton Roads Naval Museum, also known as Nauticus.

Harbor Fest

The view from the top level of the Boush Street Parking garage. Parking was much easier than I feared; the lady at the gate told me that yesterday was the day they were chock-a-block full.

Picton-Castle

The Picton-Castle, sailing out of Nova Scotia, Canada.

HMS Bounty, Kalmar Nyckel

Delaware’s own Kalmar Nyckel, which we frequently saw when we boated on the Christina River, is on the right; the replica HMS Bounty, built for the Marlon Brando potboiler, is on the left. They were berthed across the Elizabeth River in Portsmouth. My camera has a nice long lens.

Harbor Police RIB

And the Harbor Police were keeping an eye on the proceedings.

It contains no private information. It does not drop persistent cookies, does not collect data other than incoming ip addresses and page views (the internet is a public place), and certainly does not collect and sell your information to others.

Some sites that I link to may try to track you, but that's between you and them, not you and me.

I do collect statistics, but I use a simple stand-alone Wordpress plugin, not third-party services such as Google Analitics over which I have no control.

Finally, this is website is a hobby. It's a hobby in which I am deeply invested, about which I care deeply, and which has enabled me to learn a lot about computers and computing, but it is still ultimately an avocation, not a vocation; it is certainly not a money-making enterprise (unless you click the "Donate" button--go ahead, you can be the first!).

I appreciate your visiting this site, and I desire not to violate your trust.
