“An Armed Society Is a Polite Society” 0
Share politeness.
And, for a bonus, accidental politeness.
Afterthought:
Though I’ve never been a hunter, I grew up surrounded by careful, responsible hunters, and, as I have mentioned, am a pretty good shot when I’m in practice.
There’s no excuse for mistaking a person for a bunny rabbit or for “it just went off.”
None.

Out Harper’s Ferry way, a new rebellion is taking shape.
The laundry list of grievances that underpins the Liberate Western Maryland movement runs from higher taxes on alcohol and cigarettes to “oppressive” gun control legislation, in-state college tuition for illegal immigrants, and even stricter rules on septic tanks.
Several hundred people had signed a petition backing the statehood movement by the time Strzelcyzk and a handful of supporters presented their vision to about 80 people who attended the rally at Allegany College in Cumberland.
Also, the rest of Maryland is full of the blahs.
They certainly won’t talk about it, of course, but, if racism isn’t a big undercurrent in this, I’m not a southern boy.
Marriage Is Evil 0
Having been married twice, I have my own ideas, but, really, now, you can’t make this stuff up.
It would seem that little boys are okay, but big boys are not.
Full Disclosure:
I attended Catholic Churches for the 19 years during which I was married to a second-generation Italian Catholic. All the priests I knew were good men who did their jobs honorably.
They knew that we had both been divorced and that I was not Catholic, and they never denied either of us communion. They placed Christian love above doctrine. They understood the Gospel of Love.
They honored their God and I treasure my memories of them.
Their work has been dishonored by their management.

You’ve got your smart bigots, who cloud their bigotry in fancy words, then you’ve got the rest.
What Does Google Know that We Don’t? 0
I “swyped” g-i-b-l-e-t-s into a text to First Daughter about cooking a turkey and Google spell-check returned
C-o-n-g-r-e-s-s.
I’m thinking that’s not an error.
Is Compassion out of Fashion? 0
Karen Owen wants to know. A nugget:
Isn’t compassion part of it? Or was that just my imagination as a little girl attending Sunday school at the family Presbyterian church?

Corporate Conscience 0
Yeah. I know.
Most of you will think that that is an oxymoron.
Not Reg Henry. He goes all hobby lobbyist and clears that up.
In order to sell this stuff, some corporations are kind enough to open their stores on Thanksgiving so that their clerks are not stuck at home with Uncle Charlie in the grip of turkey-induced lethargy, perhaps even falling into the moral danger of watching the Dallas Cowboys and their voluptuous cheerleaders on TV.
How nice it is in the holiday season to walk through stores and hear the time-honored carols, such as “Deck the Malls with Boughs of Money, Fa-la-la, etc.” Corporations not religious? Why, Virginia, just because bean counters study business and not theology doesn’t mean that they aren’t seeking to have their own executive suites in heaven.
Indeed, it is in respect of one of their most cherished commandments — “Thou Shalt Not Have Any Regulations Before Thee”– that some corporations have challenged the Affordable Care Act and its requirement that insurance plans cover contraception.
