I posted this earlier, then took it down while trying to shoot some trouble (H/T to George Smith for notifying me of the trouble.)

But it’s so important I’m trying again.

Remonstrate politely with the neighbors.

Police say loud barking might have led a 56-year-old man to kill four of his neighbors and two dogs before turning the weapon on himself over the weekend at a central Phoenix town house.

And in other news of the polite . . . .

Sally Kalson doesn’t think much of the House Republicans’ hearings on the health care exchange website snafu.

Republicans, who have used every trick in their playbook to gum up the works of the Affordable Care Act, are now holding hearings to investigate how the works got so gummed up.

They could save themselves the trouble by looking in the mirror, just as O.J. Simpson could have done to find his wife’s killer. But that would rob them of the chance to grandstand.

Do read the rest.

Aside:

I bet none of the Congressmen speaks a word of PHP, let alone SQL.

Legacy, the Bushie Way 0

Fred Sanford’s war.

Every week, as the U.S. troop drawdown accelerates, the United States is selling 12 million to 14 million pounds of its equipment on the Afghan market.

Returning that gear to the U.S. from a landlocked country halfway around the world would be prohibitively expensive, according to U.S. officials. Instead, they are leaving behind $7 billion worth of supplies, a would-be boon to the fragile Afghan economy.

But there’s a catch: The equipment is being reduced to scrap before it is offered to the Afghan people . . . .

Pretending to the badge of politeness:

Philadelphia police say a city man who works as a clerk in the sheriff’s office falsely claimed to be a police officer then a deputy when he pulled a gun at an auto repair shop.

There is no up-side for singers who try to “stylize” the U. S. National Anthem at sporting events. At best, it’s not so good; at worst, it’s horrifying.

Then, again, let’s not and say we did.

Several churches in the Charlotte area – including one of the largest, Calvary Church – are moving to cut ties with Boy Scout troops they sponsor after a decision earlier this year by Boy Scouts of America to admit openly gay Scouts.

Misdirection Play 0

Arthur Poskocil isn’t fooled:

Blaming Congress as a whole probably appealed to many uninformed individuals as a sensible and concerned position. Unfortunately, it is just such citizens who make it possible for those truly responsible, such as Sen. Ted Cruz and our own Rep. Bob Goodlatte, to exercise the great negative and obstructionist power that they have wielded.

As the shutdown progressed, national polls showed that a sizeable majority of Americans did realize that congressional Republicans were to blame. Yet 30 percent of respondents still blamed the president and his party. That reflects far too many Americans who are utterly ignorant or ideologically blinded, too many Americans taking the side of political terrorists.
