Richmond must be under the influence (emphasis added).

Richmond will sell bonds next week to build a brewery for Escondido, Calif.-based Stone Brewing Co., the ninth-largest U.S. craft-beermaker, on property that’s been vacant for four decades. Stone will pay the 218,000-person city to lease the facility and won’t be on the hook to repay investors. Taxpayers will.

American businesspersons may talk about creativity, initiative, and individual effort, but what they really care about is free stuff from the government, that is, from you and me.

Show politeness.

A vendor setting up before the (Expo Idaho gun–ed.) show says he was in the process of putting a plastic zip-tie on the trigger assembly of the bolt-action rifle when it suddenly fired. The bullet hit a 51-year-old man’s cane before hitting the man in the leg and hitting a nearby 64-year-old man in the leg.

Honest to Betsy*, you can’t make this stuff up.

All snark aside, I suspect that Jeb! has been somewhat taken aback to learn how little import being a “Bush” conveys. One suspects he has not paid attention to the origins of the term, “Bush crime family.”

Politeness is the cat’s meow.

Barry Fish, Max’s owner, told Fox25 the cat came home injured and in pain last week after roaming outside. When he took his pet to the veterinarian, he discovered the cat had been shot.

“We saw an X-ray with a picture of a bone, and it’s all shattered by something small, like a .22 or a pellet,” Fish told Fox25.

There’s still some fight in them good ole boys.

A man was arrested after allegedly detonating an explosive device inside a Tupelo, Mississippi, Wal-Mart early Sunday morning.

(snip)

In comment threads on the Daily Journal website, a commenter named Marshall Leonard has posted often about his support for the Confederate flag. He blamed Mississippi media outlets and retail stores, including Wal-Mart, for the recent actions to remove the Confederate battle flag emblem from the public eye.

No one was injured. The story does not mention the size or type of the bomb explosive device.

(Updated to include more information.)

Everybody’s a narcissist.

Pia Kjærsgaard, the Danish People’s Party icon who assumed the powerful position of speaker of parliament following June’s elections, says Danish MPs are too busy posting to Facebook and Twitter when they should be paying attention to what’s being said in Christiansborg.

“It is completely reprehensible that people were sitting there on [parliament’s] opening day and tweeting,” Kjærsgaard told BT.

Be polite when paying.

The man was headed toward the register when his gun fell and fired a single round into another man’s calf, said spokeswoman Kristen Bentsen in an email. The man was carrying the gun legally, she noted.

“Open carry” is working out so very nicely, is it not?

I ate at a Cracker Barrel once. It was the day that the space shuttle Challenger fell out of the sky.

I didn’t need another reason to avoid them.
