Flint-Hearted 2

The spring edition of the Virginia Tech alumni mag has a long article about the role of Virginia Tech scientists in documenting and publicizing the Republican poisoning of Flint, Michigan. I recommend downloading the PDF.

(I get the magazine because my father (and my brother) went to Tech* and I seem to have inherited a subscription through from my father through my mother.)

What can I say? The world needs farmers, engineers, chemists, scientists, and (unfortunately) soldiers. Virginia Tech’s strength is filling that need.

At its heart, it’s an engineering school, as is West Point. Engineers make stuff; we need engineers.

I’m still not convinced that we need degrees in “Hotel Management” or “Phlebotomy.” And we sure as hell don’t need MBAs. MBAs destroy stuff.

Some sites that I link to may try to track you, but that's between you and them, not you and me.

Finally, this is website is a hobby. It's a hobby in which I am deeply invested, about which I care deeply, and which has enabled me to learn a lot about computers and computing, but it is still ultimately an avocation, not a vocation; it is certainly not a money-making enterprise (unless you click the "Donate" button--go ahead, you can be the first!).
