Chart showing that tax cuts do not lead to growth. Following the George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton tax increases, the economy boomed (right into the dot-com bubble). Following the President George the Worst tax cuts, the economy crashed in 2008.

The “Family Values’ Caucus Circus 0

At Psychology Today Blogs, Nigel Barber muses as to why “family values conservatives” such as “Judge” Roy Moore, Mall Warrior, so often get caught out violating the values that the profess to value. Here’s a bit:

There is something Dickensian about the psyche of religious conservatives. They present themselves as an example to the public about how to behave and pontificate about the moral decline of modern life. In private life, many are the opposite. They act out the evil that they project onto others. This phenomenon has generated a great deal of scandal in political life.

He goes on to talk about the “white bear effect.” Give it a read.

Politeness goes to the dogs.

William Rancourt was pheasant hunting on the Boone River Greenbelt Conservation Board Public Hunting Area with three other hunters when he was hit in the back by bird shot pellets from another hunter’s 12-gauge shotgun.

The shotgun was lying on the ground when a hunting dog stepped on the trigger guard. It hit Rancourt in the back nearly 22 yards away. He was taken to Trinity Hospital in Fort Dodge with non-life threatening injuries.

Josh Marshall considers why Donald Trump and his dupes, symps, and fellow travelers keep getting off. A snippet:

Get out of Jail free cardI’ve seen several complaints this morning that the news media has failed to hold President Trump to account for the multiple allegations against him ranging from inappropriate touching to assault and rape. I think this is wrong. We’ve seen a clear pattern playing out in all the allegations about sexual misconduct and the firings, resignations and apologies which have followed in their wake. The consequences track entirely to the constituency – either political, commercial or corporate – the accused serves and depend on.

If the constituency doesn’t care, the accused will be fine.

Yet another gun with a trigger finger of its own:

A man suspected of carrying a gun that went off Sunday afternoon at a mall in Orange County is now in police custody (the mope turned himself in–ed.).

(snip)

Investigators say a bullet ricocheted when a gun was discharged into the floor in front of an American Eagle store at the Galleria at Crystal Run mall in Middletown on Sunday.

Investigators say a 49-year-old Goshen woman and her 12-year-old son were hit in the legs. Police said it was unclear if the shooting was intentional or an accident.

Just another day in NRA Paradise . . . .
