Adults only look like they know what they’re doing. In fact, they’re all making it up as they go along, especially when giving advice.

Lies and Lying Liars 0

At Psychology Today Blogs, William R. Klemm explores how liars become inured to their lying. A snippet:

People’s lies grew bolder the more they lied. Brain scans revealed that activity in a key emotional center of the brain, the amygdala, became less active and desensitized as the dishonesty grew. In essence, the brain was being trained to lie. Thus, a little bit of dishonesty might be viewed as a slippery slope that can lead one to grow more dishonest.

“An Armed Society Is a Polite Society” 0

Just plane politeness.

Ty Hiers who was piloting the plane says it started off like any other day of cropdusting and although he didn’t hear any gunshots he did notice something which made him uneasy.”That particular day, that particular field I did see an older gentleman, he came outside and he was holding a cardboard sign and at the altitude I was at and the turn I could not tell what the sign said. But he was acting in a manner that he really didn’t want me in the area.”

After he landed he did a routine check of the aircraft where he noticed a bullet hole in his fan blade and on his wheel strut.

“We got very blessed with where it actually hit. If it had been an inch further or behind it would have missed that strut altogether and would have punctured a fuel tank.”

One more time: “Responsible gun owner” is an oxymoron.

Drive with courtesy.

A one-year-old boy has been shot and wounded in what Houston police believe was a road rage attack.

Detectives believe the attacker fired two shots after flying into a violent rage when he was cut off near a Southwest Freeway gas station yesterday afternoon.

The suspect apparently produced a handgun when the 18-month-old child’s father, who has hearing problems, got out of his car to apologize for cutting him off.
