Too bad.

So sad.

A Texas judge threw out the National Rifle Association’s bankruptcy filing on Tuesday, saying the case was filed in “bad faith” in an effort to avoid litigation in New York.

Afterthought:

Many years ago, I worked with someone whose husband worked for the NRA. She was a capable and competent coworker, which is one reason why I remember her.

It was the early ’70s, right about the time the NRA morphed from being a hunting safety group (I actually had a gun safety class delivered by an NRA representative some years earlier during a high school PE class–I grew up in the country and hunting was a thing) to being a munitions marketer.

Sometimes I wonder how my old coworker is doing now after all these years . . . .

According to police, the victim advised that while driving her boyfriend pulled out a handgun to clear it when it went off shooting her in the left buttock. The boyfriend dropped the woman off at the emergency room at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center in Cambridge and left.

Trudy Ruben is concerned about the bubbleliciousness. Here’s a bit of her article:

We are not (yet) in a “1984” era, to cite the famous George Orwell novel about a totalitarian society whose members are taught that “freedom is slavery” and “ignorance is strength.” The press is still free to report the facts, but an important segment of the media, especially on TV, radio and the internet, have chosen to use that freedom to promote an endless stream of falsehoods about public health and political issues.

Along the same lines, Tony Norman argues that truth has no place in today’s Republican Party. (Again, much more at the link.)

Thom has a disturbing theory as to the source of many Americans’ “vaccine hesitation” is coming from. Once, I would have dismissed this out of hand, but, in the light of recent events, such as the Capitol insurrection, the noaccount recount currently taking place in Arizona, and many other things I could mention–well, just give it a listen.
