Denial Is Not Just a River in Egypt 0

It’s also a law in Florida.

Afterthought:

Denying history means never learning its lessons.

In this case, it is quite clear that those who would deny history also reject its lessons, because they are too busy still rising again after all these years.

I just checked the Constitution of the United States of America.

It does not mention airplanes.

Does that mean that the FAA is unconstitutional?

And Elise Kalin writes powerfully of the loss at the Des Moines Register. Here’a little bit of her article:

To lose one of your rights is to know what it really means to be afraid. To be failed by the systems you were taught to trust. It is to be told that your life means less than your counterparts, that you don’t deserve bodily autonomy. It is a terrifying reminder that “other” religions mean nothing to half of this country’s government. It is a promise that every step forward we’ve made in the past 50 years will be forced backward until the word “progress” is replaced with its antonym in the dictionary.

At the Idaho State Journal, Leonard Hitchcock examines Republicans’ war against truth in learning. A snippet (emphasis added):

They (students–ed.) also need to learn about American history. America is a country that, like other countries, has made mistakes — sometimes very egregious mistakes — but has also (however belatedly), tried to learn from those mistakes and atone for them. Loyalty to country — a moral virtue highly prized by conservatives — should not be the result of teachers’ lying about a country’s history. Whitewashing America’s past does no service to anyone.
