We ignore climate change at our peril, but, frankly, I fear we are well past the tipping point. I do not see humankind capable of the global cooperation that is required to combat it. To be blunt, I fear that climate change will become our own self-inflicted asteroid which we will prove incapable of averting.

The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas.

The reader of this this novel does a superb job with a superb story. It’s one of the best Librivox readings I’ve heard!

Though, for some fool reason, he seems to have trouble remembering Alexandre Dumas’s first name.

The Los Angeles Times’s LZ Granderson, who has ties to Mississippi, digs into Brett Farve’s role in–er–misappropriating public funds intended to help the less-well-off to serve his own private ends. A snippet:

Just remember this: Two years after Favre made the, ahem, alleged mistake of pushing for welfare dollars to be used for a new volleyball arena, he reached back out to Bryant for an indoor football practice facility.

Once is a mistake.*

He came back for seconds.

Beware of the shills. For example (much more at the link):

Kim Kardashian has agreed to pay $1.26 million to settle Securities and Exchange Commission charges that she promoted a cryptocurrency on Instagram without disclosing she’d been paid $250,000 to do so.

“The federal securities laws are clear that any celebrity or other individual who promotes a crypto asset security must disclose the nature, source, and amount of compensation they received in exchange for the promotion,” Gurbir Grewal, director of the SEC’s division of enforcement, said in a prepared statement.
