Little Chicken Littles 0

Joel Mathis is bemused by Republicans’ over-the top response to last week’s Chinese balloon.

The now-notorious Chinese balloon appeared in the skies over the region last week, floating peacefully through the area before the Air Force shot it down off the coast of South Carolina. To listen to our leaders, though, you’d have thought the sky was falling.

The Privatization Scam 0

At the Des Moines Register, Matt Pries, teacher from a family of teachers, offers some thoughts about why public schools have become a favorite target of the New Secesh. Here’s a bit of his article; I commend the entire piece to your attention.

Our schools don’t look like them. Don’t sound like them. Don’t act like them. Don’t do learning the way they think learning should be done. So instead of realizing our schools are a picture of the world where teachers and staff are doing the best they can to help all kids be ready for the world? They go after the school — which is really their way of going after the world. Because the world doesn’t look like them. Doesn’t sound like them. Doesn’t act like them. Doesn’t do life the way they think life should be done. But it’s hard to go after the world.

Hoist on Their Own Petard 0

Mangy comments at the Youtube page:

Poor dumb Republicans. They planned to have what they thought would be a blockbuster hearing showing how Democrats manipulated Twitter to disadvantage Republicans, but instead they highlighted the fact that Trump pressured Twitter to take down unflattering posts about himself. So much for their dream of a ‘liberal-biased big tech’ expose. Mangy Fetlocks has known a few idiots in his many years, but James Comer, Jim Jordan, Kevin McCarthy, Marjorie Tater Greens, and friends display record-breaking ineptitude and stupidity.

The Dividing Line 0

The editorial board of the Las Vegas Sun looks at Sara Huckabee Sanders’s “response” to President Biden’s State of the Union address and suggests that she got part of it right. A snippet:

. . . Huckabee Sanders delivered the Republican rebuttal, declaring that “the dividing line in America is no longer between right or left.?The choice is between normal or crazy.”

We agree. Though we also think she missed a few adjectives, like dangerous, ignorant, racist, unconstitutional and un-American. The past president’s apologist also needs to take a good long look in the mirror before she starts decrying crazies.

If you dig into the politics of hate in the United States, however it be manifested, your shovel will eventually strike America’s original sin of chattel slavery and the doctrine of racism which was manufactured to justify it. We close our eyes to that at our peril
