One of the things I like about my new(er) car is that it has no touch screen! The instrument panel is all computerized, natch, but the controls are all knobs and buttons and levers, as should be.
Automobile touch screens are perhaps the best example that “just because you can” is not in and of itself a sufficient reason to use a technology.
It does have a back-up screen, but I consider that a pointless superfluity except for gauging how close I am to the back of the parking spot (I almost always back in; it’s much safer when comes time to pull out). Anyone who has ever pulled a trailer knows that you back up using your side mirrors, not your rearview mirror (and certainly not by turning your head to look out the rear window).
