The Suckers Took the Bait 2

The geeks were biting that day, and the anglers reeled in a big haul. (Details at the link.)

The administrators of a top deep-web marketplace have disappeared with over $12m worth of the cryptocurrency Bitcoin, it emerged last night, in what appears to have been an “exit scam”.

Criminals scamming criminals. I’m shocked. Reddit section has a sad.

    http://www.latimes.com/business/realestate/hot-property/la-fi-hotprop-winklevoss-twins-20150323-story.html

“[High-button grifters] Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss have listed their view home in Hollywood Hills West for long-term lease at $150,000 a month — offering a rare glimpse inside the residence ….

The twins paid $18 million in 2012 for the contemporary-style two-story, which is in the celebrity-popular Bird Streets area … They have since turned to venture capitalism, focusing on bitcoins. The Winklevoss twins had planned to use the residence for their venture capital headquarters, reported Variety.”

Guess not. Last week, at SXSW, they predicted BitCoin would “wipe out” old fashioned cash money by 2025. Great quote: “[BitCoin] is like a technology company. It has its ups and downs.” Mostly downs for the last 12-months if you take the Winkdex seriously.

The geeks that I have heard extol bitcoin must enthusiastically seem to be the ones who consider themselves “libertarians.” Difficult to feel much sympathy.
