One again, as predictable as glacier melts in Antartica, gun nuts and their dupes, symps, and fellow travelers are trying to blame something other than the proliferation of guns for the proliferation of gun violence.

At Psychology Today Blogs, Bill Eddy looks to the data (not that data will sway the gun strokers from their allegiance to craving for their portable penises). A snippet:

In studies that compare the United States with other similar countries in terms of the number of mass shootings, the only major difference was not mental health, but the amount of guns.

Politeness takes the back seat.

“The investigation showed the shooting appeared to be accidental so no charges were sought,”said Rock Hill police Lt. Michael Chavis.

The victim, a woman, told officers the shooting happened while she was in a car in the 1200 block of East Main Street, the report stated. The woman said she and another person had picked up a passenger, an acquaintance, who got in the back seat when the gun went off from the back, the report stated.

They go together like love and Cupid.
Let me tell you, brother,

Guns make fearful people feel powerful, and those people do not care at all what price others pay for their ersatz confidence.

Bargain-basement politeness.

A gunman described as a disgruntled Walmart employee has fatally shot two co-workers and wounded a police officer before he was shot and arrested at a Walmart store in northern Mississippi.

(snip)

Abram, a Southaven resident, had been suspended from the store in recent days after he showed a knife to a co-worker. A police report had been filed, but Champion said Abram didn’t appear to have threatened the co-worker and criminal charges weren’t being pursued.

Thus passeth another day in NRA paradise.

Inculcate politeness into your progeny at an early age.

The (three-year-old–ed.) boy was rushed to Advocate Trinity Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Family told police they heard a gunshot from another room and found their child with a gun, police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi tweeted Sunday night. The Department of Children and Family Services “has also been called in to assist,” he said.

The NRA will no doubt argue that, had the boy been armed, this no doubt would not have happ–oh, wait.

Distant politeness . . . .

Three members of a Northern Kentucky family found themselves just inches away from being hit with a bullet on their farm.

The family was next to the lake on their property in southern Kenton County when the shot came whizzing by Thursday evening. They’re thankful no one was hurt, but now they’re left wondering if it was an accident or if someone was aiming for them.

I’m betting is was just one of those responsible gun owners being responsible.
