Another one of those responsible gun owners joins the hunt for politeness.

But when the bullet struck, it wasn’t a deer that he had shot and killed, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement posted to Facebook.

Rather, it was a 72-year-old woman who fell victim to the deer hunter, the post says.

Deputies with the sheriff’s office were called to the “tragedy” in Yale at 1:43 p.m. on Sunday, and they arrived at 2:15, according to the statement.

The Johnson County Sheriff said the fatal shot was an accident, KARK reported, as the hunter mistook the woman for a deer.

Must have been her antlers . . . .

By the by, shooting at a target without making certain of what it is cannot be minimized as an “accident.”

It’s prima facie negligence.

Politeness gets waisted.

The woman was shot in the stomach around 6 p.m. on Magazine Street. She was taken to a hospital, where she underwent surgery.

(snip)

A neighbor said her daughter ran to help the woman, whose boyfriend carried her out of the home and said she pulled a gun from his waistband and it went off.

The victim is recovering.

When someone offers to assist you in your time of need, respond politely.

They (Florida–it would be Florida–State Police–ed.) say the male driver lost control and hit a guardrail.

Orlando Police say a 16-year-old boy, whose home is near the 528, approached to the driver to see if he needed help.

The boy’s mother told police that the driver pulled out a gun and asked her son if he had a credit card and a car.

She says that her son said no and ran back home, where she could call 911.

Politeness once again goes to the dogs.

Daugherty’s gun had been propped up inside the hunting blind when a dog entered, knocking it over and causing it to discharge. The firearm was a 12-gauge Browning Maxus; the safety was not engaged.

Greaseburger with a side of politeness:

According to the Caldwell Parish Sheriff’s Office, the person arrested was a female employee at the (McDonalds–ed.) restaurant. They say the gun discharged when the employee accidentally dropped it. The bullet hit a water line in the ceiling, damaging the water line. No one was hurt.

Why the hell does anyone need to pack heat to make Big Macs?

If at first you don’t polite, try try again . . . .

It’s her daughter’s live-in boyfriend of nearly a year. Investigators say at a home down this dirt road in Hephzibah, Benjamin Goodson pointed a shotgun at 6-year-old Ryder and pulled the trigger. The gun did not fire. But, then Goodson pulled the hammer back and fired again at Ryder, shooting him in the chest.

“My grandson did not deserve to die, he didn’t,” said Stamey. “There’s nothing this little boy could’ve ever done wrong in his life for anybody to have ever done anything to him to hurt him.”

Intentional or not Benjamin Goodson is facing charges of murder.

The story goes on to say that alcohol may have been involved. Stupid was certainly involved. The shooter has been charged.

This news report finds a bright side to NRA Paradise.

The Autauga County Sheriff’s Office received a call around noon Sunday that a 9-year-old girl accidentally shot herself on Laurel Hills Drive.

(snip)

Although the tragedy has cut a young life short, good has already been born from the pain. The family says some of Alyssa’s major organs are being donated so others may live.

Scatter politeness about your home.

A 9-year-old Autauga County girl died Sunday afternoon in an apparent accidental shooting, Sheriff Joe Sedinger confirmed.

Giving new meaning to the term “fired upon” at the intersection of guns and stupid . . . .

The Kokomo Tribune reports the 23-year-old was cleaning out a shed with a friend and throwing unwanted items into a bonfire.

Suddenly, the man heard a loud pop and felt sharp pain. Police say an investigation revealed one of the containers tossed on the fire likely held a .22 caliber bullet, which discharged after it heated up.

Politeness is going to the dogs.

“Charlie got his foot in the trigger of the gun and I leaned forward and he slipped off the seat and caught the trigger — and it shot,” Gilligan told the newspaper. “It was a freak accident but it’s true, that’s what happened.”

The shotgun fired by Charlie, a 120-pound Rottweiler mix — or, presumably, a “Shot-weiler” — blasted through the driver’s seat and entered Gilligan’s back, breaking several ribs and his collarbone. He was lucky to survive the freak accident, he said.

I do not want to seem querulous–oh, forget it, I do. There’s a reason that guns are supposed to be kept unloaded, or, at the minimum, kept with safeties engaged, until you are ready to use them (though I have been given to understand, he weasel-worded, that some guns these days are not equipped with safeties, because responsible gun owners are always responsible; also, pigs, wings).

Drive politely.

Officers met the couple at the hospital and found the man, whose name was not released, with a single gunshot wound to the upper thigh. He was uncooperative with officers, the press release states, and wouldn’t say what happened other than he was “jumped.”

A bullet hole was found in the car door of the vehicle the couple arrived in, and after more questioning the woman said the man had accidentally shot himself while in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. The gun had been tossed out of the vehicle in the area of Wicks Lane and St. Andrews Drive.

It seems that the jumper and jumpee were one and the same.

The hunt for politeness continues, and bags more stupid.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office says Nadia Meyers was hunting small game Monday with several others when one person in her party shot at a rabbit, missing the animal and striking Meyers.

Now, about those IQ tests for hunting licenses . . . .

Face up to the politeness.

When police arrived at the scene they found an 18-year-old who sustained a gunshot wound to his face.

The injuries were non-life threatening but the teen was still taken to the hospital.

Police finished their investigation into the matter and determined that the gun was accidentally discharged.

I find the use of the passive voice somewhat noteworthy creepy.

Another polite family . . . .

Officials said the 13-year-old shot his younger brother with a small-caliber handgun. The 11-year-old boy was flown to a hospital by Life Flight and was in stable but critical condition, officials said.
