Practice random acts of politeness.

Officials said the driver was traveling on State Route 111, South of Reno in a wooded stretch of road.

A bullet from a high powered rifle entered the passenger cabin and hit the driver in the leg.

Just a bit of collateral damage in the NRA Garden of Eden . . . .

The hunt for politeness continues.

“Denton initially claimed to us that he shot himself” while they were in a wooded area off Crowningshield Lane in the Town of Elizabethtown, State Police Troop B Public Information Officer Jennifer Fleishman said Wednesday.

“A subsequent investigation revealed Denton and Rolston were illegally hunting deer when Rolston accidentally shot Denton with a 20-gauge shotgun,” the release said.

I grew up with hunters in my family.

Not a one of them would have hunted anything out of season, and not a one of them was stupid enough to shoot a hunting companion.

But that was then, when the NRA was about hunting safety. not about gun sales.

Politeness goes for the dogs:

Their dog Remi was killed while chasing after a buck in the Ocala National Forest. Remi hunted deer for food for the McGee’s.

Deputies say this was no accident. They arrested Todd Sweitzer after finding Remi’s 3 GPS dog collar trackers in his home as well as the gun used in the shooting.

Let’s have open-carryings-on.

William B. Burdess, 51, was doing chores in a horse barn when the .45 caliber pistol he had in a holster in his pocket fell to the ground and discharged, Capt. Shawn Thallas said. Burdess was struck in the lower left chest. The bullet exited through his back.

If more persons had guns in their pockets, this would no doubt not happened.

Afterthought:

Why the hell was he packing in the first place? Was he afraid the horses were going to make a break for it?

. . . and another responsible gun owner’s gun decides to fire itself.

Investigators said the man was inside his car when his gun discharged, injuring his leg. They determined the shooting was an accident and did not file charges against him.

If more folks were packing here in NRA Paradise, no doubt this would not have happened.

Also, pigs, wings.

Another random act of politeness.

Corporal Billy Hall with the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office told WATE that a vendor was attempting to unload a shotgun-type weapon when it accidentally went off, firing at the floor. A pellet from the shotgun ricocheted off the floor and hit another vendor in the neck.

This is a “responsible gun owner” in action.

Practice random acts of politeness.

An 18-wheeler driver was wounded Wednesday morning when someone shot at his truck, causing shattered glass to hit him in the neck, Rowlett police said.

About 9:30 a.m., the 57-year-old San Antonio man was driving his tractor-trailer westbound in the 18000 block of Interstate 30, near Dalrock Road, when he changed lanes because of an accident ahead.

The hunt for politeness continues.

Three people have been injured in the past week from hunting accidents in Iowa, according to the Department of Natural Resources.

An 11-year-old boy was shot in the hip accidentally by his 13-year-old brother while the two were hunting with their grandfather on Sunday about three miles north of Iowa City.

Politeness goes to the dogs.

Barbara Hays, bureau manager at the city-run Norfolk Animal Care Center, said officials initially thought the dog merely had a few puncture wounds, something that happens from time to time. An emergency veterinarian gave Shadow some antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medicine.

Then on Monday, Shadow’s left jaw began swelling. A vet found the real culprit: bullets. Two were in her jaw, and she underwent surgery that removed them.

Another bullet fragment just missed Shadow’s spinal cord. “She’s a lucky dog,” Hays said.

Demonstrate courtesy on the nation’s highways.

What he (a television news cameraman–ed.) saw was the aftermath of a relatively minor rear end collision between a Jeep and a gray Nissan sedan. No one could have predicted what would happen next.*

Two men emerged from the vehicles, and a few moments later, both had drawn pistols and were firing at each other in the middle of traffic.

“I thought they had stopped shooting,” said Garcia. He started recording after the last shot ended, but still, the men continued to threaten and wave the guns at each other, all of which is recorded on his remarkable video, the camera serving as an eyewitness.

Provide child care politely.

County police said officers were called to the 3000 block of Bellamy Way in Suitland, Maryland, around 6:40 p.m. They said a victim was shot in the upper body and taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Investigators said it appears to be an accidental shooting. Police said a babysitter, 33, was the one who shot the boy and was the one who took the victim to the hospital.

. . . just another day in the NRA’s Garden of Eden.

Afterthought:

Had the child been packing, no doubt he could have returned fire so as to amplify the politeness.

The hunt for politeness continues.

The group had completed a drive (hunting for pheasants–ed.) and was taking a break when the incident took place. The DNR report added that the discharge was caused by the gun falling over.

The injured hunters were taken to the Audubon County Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. They were treated and later released.

. . . just another example of responsible gun owners being responsible.

Highly-trained politeness.

A Mesa Police Department crime scene specialist accidentally shot himself in the hand and injured two other officers who were clearing a scene Tuesday night, police said.

The incident happened at a house as the specialist was processing a firearm as evidence, Rasheta said.

The hunt for politeness continues and another gun that fired itself.

Police said Powell had returned home from hunting earlier in the day. Powell was carrying the pistol in a shoulder holster on his left side. When he went to remove the pistol, it discharged one bullet, hitting Powell in the chest, police said.

Just another day in NRA Paradise, where responsible gun owners act responsibly.

Investigators say the they are investigating the shooting as an intentional act and not a hunting accident.

They say the horses’ owners returned home at about 4:00 p.m. on the 21st to find one of the horses lying on the ground, dead from a gunshot wound in its heart and lung areas. Another horse was standing next to the body and was found to have a wound in its shoulder. That horse is still recovering.

A third horse was found wounded in a separate area. That horse died the next day from its wound.

The shotgun was lying on the ground when a hunting dog stepped on the trigger guard. It hit Rancourt in the back nearly 22 yards away. He was taken to Trinity Hospital in Fort Dodge with non-life threatening injuries.

Yet another gun with a trigger finger of its own:

A man suspected of carrying a gun that went off Sunday afternoon at a mall in Orange County is now in police custody (the mope turned himself in–ed.).

(snip)

Investigators say a bullet ricocheted when a gun was discharged into the floor in front of an American Eagle store at the Galleria at Crystal Run mall in Middletown on Sunday.

Investigators say a 49-year-old Goshen woman and her 12-year-old son were hit in the legs. Police said it was unclear if the shooting was intentional or an accident.

Swan song.

The beloved Sunriver trumpeter swan ‘Chuck’ was killed Thanksgiving Day.

Sunriver Police Chief Marc Mills says shooting swans is illegal because they are not considered game birds in Oregon. He also says the incident took place in an area where hunting is not allowed. “We do not believe that it was an accident. It does appear to be a very direct and specific shot, to and or at ‘Chuck,’ that caused his injury. I think it was just cruel, and intentional, and we’re certainly hoping that we can come to some kind of conclusion in the near future.”

Practice random acts of politeness.

Ronald Hicks, 28, was treated at Mercy Hospital Joplin for a wound to his upper leg suffered while hiking with his sister shortly before dusk Friday, according to Newton County Sheriff Chris Jennings.

Jennings said several shots are believed to have been fired in the direction of the hikers by people doing some target shooting on private property nearby. Deputies were able to determine the source of the shots a short time after the incident, which remains under investigation.
