Sheriff’s deputies said they reported to a call regarding an accidental shooting, and found a victim suffering gunshot wounds at the home. A man reportedly heard a noise and went outside to investigate, carrying his pistol. When he returned inside, the man mistook his roommate for an intruder and shot him, according to Capt. David Agee of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

He pointed a gun at a man, he pulled the trigger, he hit his target.

And the story goes on that “witnesses” are calling this “accidental.”

Immunity Impunity 0

E. J. Dionne wonders marvels Trump keeps getting away with stuff and notes that he has accomplices.

A snippet:

When Republicans held Congress during President Barack Obama’s administration, it seemed that a missing box of staples might have been enough to launch 100 subpoenas and months of hearings. Now, the GOP is going along with a president whose lawyers — in a court-filing trying to block the Manhattan district attorney from getting Trump’s tax returns — are asserting that “a sitting President of the United States is not ‘subject to the criminal process’ while he is in office.” It is a sweeping and astonishing assertion that a president is above the law as long as he sits in the White House, no matter which level of government might be investigating him.

Lies and Lying Liars 0

At Psychology Today Blogs, Neel Burton examines lying and wonders why we still have not learned the ought-to-be-obious truth that liars cannot be trusted. A snippet:

Since Plato, many thinkers have spoken of truth and God in the same breath, and truth has also been linked with concepts such as justice, power, and freedom. According to John the Apostle, Jesus said to the Jews: “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

Today, God may be dying, but what about truth? Rudy Giuliani, Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, claimed that “truth isn’t truth”, while Kellyanne Conway, Trump’s counsellor, presented the public with what she called “alternative facts”.
