“An Armed Society Is a Polite Society” 0

Settle disagreements with politeness.

Musical NotesGuns and stupid, guns and stupid.
They go together like love and Cupid.
Let me tell you brother,
You can’t have one without the other.

Misdirection Play: about Those “Issues” 0

Dick Polman has a message for those who say that they don’t know enough about Kamala Harris’s positions on “the issues” (follow the link for context):

My message to the undecided voters: You say you don’t know enough about Kamala Harris, but if you open your eyes and ears, you’ll realize that you know more than enough about what Trump and his minions would do if restored to power.

Afterthought:

Honest to Betsy, it’s not like she’s keeping her positions secret. There’s this thing called “a website.”

You may have heard of it.

The Playbook 0

Writing at Psychology Today Blogs, Mark D. White looks to the Marvel Universe, particularly to a recent Captain America series, to draw lessons about how fascism works. He identifies three steps in the process; follow the link to see whether they remind you in any way of dis coarse discourse.

      1. Inventing a “Mythic Past”
      2. Setting “Us” Against “Them”
      3. Presenting a “Strongman”

Both Sides Not 0

Gene Collier, writing at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, rails against what he refers to as “the media’s stupid desire for ‘balance.’” Given the state of dis coarse discourse, I think his article is well worth a read. Here’s a tiny bit (emphasis in the original):

What journalism is not

It is not quoting somebody contending that it is raining, then searching out someone willing to tell you that it is not raining. You know, for balance. It’s much more about looking out the window and discovering the truth.

Once again, politeness becomes child’s play.

The caller reported a 5-year-old bleeding from his leg.

According to HCSO, Park Rangers and EMS arrived, it was discovered the child was left in a family car when he began playing with a firearm.

The 5-year-old fired off a round, grazing his leg.

One more time, “responsible gun owner” is an oxymoron.

And far too many morons own guns.

Nedra Rhone offers a theory as to what motivates the Republican Thought Police:

. . . the parents lobbying to ban books in their schools and communities are positioning their children to be less politically curious and less charitable toward others.
