Don’t Get Sick 3

From the Nieman Watchdog:

In recent years several hundred emergency departments (EDs) closed around the U.S., while the total number of patient visits soared. A 2008 study showed waits to see the ED physician increased 36% between 1997 and 2004. The government’s answer: cut funding for urban hospitals, where waits are longest.

Best health care in the world.

Yeah.

Right.

A lot of money those emergency rooms could use is going here instead.

And that has exactly what to do with emergency rooms?

I know no one who gives voluntary contributions to emergency rooms.

Because when given the choice to raise millions of dollars to found their own health care program for the poor or raise millions of dollars to waste on television commercials, politicians choose the latter.
