In Delaware, It’s Known Simply as “the Hotel” 2

It’s the kind of place that most locals visit only two three times in a life time, say, for a 10 anniversary or some such celebration, when they are willing to drop $50-$75 a person for a meal.

When Monday night’s game was suspended because of rain, the Rays found that the rooms they had rented at the Westin were already booked (for Tuesday night–ed.).

After some calls, the team found a hotel that had enough rooms for all the players — the posh Hotel du Pont in downtown Wilmington, Del.

Some lucky folks dine there every day.

Or, at least, they did until Bushonomics.

In Denver, it’s the Brown Palace. Once in a lifetime, at least. More for those who can afford it without saving for it.

In Estes, it’s the Stanley Hotel. Famous via Stephen King’s “The Shining”, the hotel starred as “The Overlook”.

I think every city has one, at least.

I will say, the kitchen is really good. If you are going to drop $75 per person on a meal, I can’t think of a better place to do it.

Take Southwest, I’ll meet you at the airport, you can get away with a nice night out for about five C-notes.
