Polite persons keep it clean.

Two Orlando men were wounded Wednesday night when they got together to clean their handguns and one accidentally pulled the trigger.

Treat your friends politely.

According to police, Colton Cline and Tyler Fetter were hanging out at Cline’s Lux Road home just after noon when Cline fired one shot.

“The intent was not homicide. We believe it was a reckless act,” police Chief John Otto told Channel 11’s news exchange partners at TribLIVE.

More guns would, no doubt, have kept this from happening.

Another husband practices familial politeness.

A Crafton man shot his estranged wife in the head early Wednesday and then turned the gun on himself, leaving three young daughters behind, Allegheny County officials said.

Surprised by politeness.

A loaded .45-caliber handgun was seized Monday at the Osceola County Courthouse from a man showing up for a child-custody case, Kissimmee police said. Luis A. Castillo was detained shortly after 2 p.m. when security officers spotted the weapon during an X-ray check of his briefcase, records show.

Castillo said he did not know he was armed because he recently switched briefcases.

Now that’s responsible, being polite without even realizing it.

Addendum:

PoliticalProf defines “responsible gun owner.”

Parent politely.

Greene County Sheriff Dan Langston said Logan Carter was shot in the head Saturday just before noon inside a home on County Road 336. He was later pronounced dead at a Paragould hospital.

Langston said Michael Carter, father of Logan, accidentally shot the boy with a .45 caliber gun purchased online about a month ago.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, you can’t make this stuff up.

Charles Cummings and his son, Alex, settled into their seats at the Cobb Grove 16 Monday for the 1:20 p.m. show of Lone Survivor.

During the previews, a man sitting two seats away texted noisily on his phone. The man behind him, retired Tampa police officer Curtis Reeves, asked him to stop several times.

Reeves left for a few minutes and returned. An argument erupted. Popcorn flew. Then, authorities said, Reeves pulled out a pistol and fired at the man.

Death (yes, death) seems to me a disproportionate penalty for impolite texting.

This nation shall be smitten, and every smite will have been earned.

Practice random acts of politeness.

Collegedale (Tennessee–ed.) police received the call from this trailer park on Mendoza Place. A woman with non-life threatening injuries after a stray bullet entered her home.

(Snip)

“If someone was out shooting, out hunting in the Collegedale area or taking target practice we would encourage them to give us a call and let us talk to them, . . .”

I suspect that the police don’t need to wait up for that call.

A .22 calibre bullet can travel over a mile. The practitioner of politesse likely has no idea of how far the influence of his politeness may reach.

Get loaded, politely.

James D. Meyer, 52, was setting up to do some reloading on his .40 caliber handgun shortly before 9 a.m. in the 11000 block of Paney Circle Drive. He attempted to remove a magazine from the gun when it discharged, hitting his upper left leg.

Because nobody has a greater potential for politesse than drunken frat boys . . . .

A Florida gun-rights group said it filed a lawsuit on Friday against the University of Florida, alleging the university is illegally restricting firearms and weapons on “all university property.”

The suit is the latest conflict in between Lehigh Acres-based Florida Carry Inc and a public university in Florida about gun issues.

Gun fetish or cheese fetish, a fetish is still a fetish.

Settle domestic differences politely.

“We believe the person who committed the murder-suicide, the husband, made the call prior to shooting himself,” said Bill Colarulo, Radnor Township Police.

Supt. Colarulo says they received a 911 call after 2:00 p.m. Police believe the husband called for help after allegedly shooting his wife.

Have you noticed that it is almost always the husband who does the murder and then commits suicide?

Must be a testosterone thing.

Play with your toys, politely.

Police spokeswoman Julie Parker says there was a group of five people at the home hanging out and playing with the gun when it went off. She says Pratt and the person who fired the gun were visiting the home and the person who fired is cooperating with police.

“Playing with” a gun does not make it into a toy gun.

Be polite to your neighbor.

Tragedy strikes early in the year as Debra Mishler, 50, dies from an accidental gunshot wound to the abdomen.

A relative of Mishler’s and another man were allegedly examining a .308 caliber rifle in their mobile home adjacent to Mishler’s on Fern Hollow off State Highway 173, four miles west of Jourdanton around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday. One of the men allegedly pulled the trigger of the gun, thinking it was not loaded, inside the mobile home. The gun was loaded, says Atascosa,

County Sheriff David Soward, and the bullet shot through a bathroom wall and struck the victim on her porch as she was walking into her house next door.

No charges are expected because “it happens.”

Gunnuttery would appear to be a prima facie defense against reckless endangerment.

Another gun enthusiast gets off a clean(ing) shot.

A New Hampshire man playing video games Tuesday night got a taste of real life violence when a rogue bullet hit him in the head.

Josh Demeritt, 20, of Rochester was surprisingly uninjured by the bullet accidentally fired by his across-the-street neighbor Corey Field, 25, who was in the middle of cleaning his gun.

He was not seriously injured, but the practitioner of clean gunnuttery is in big trouble.

Be polite in the halls of state.

Kentucky State Rep. Leslie Combs (D) accidentally fired her semi-automatic handgun in the state capitol building Tuesday night just before Gov. Steve Beshear (D) gave his state of the state address, WHAS11 reported.

Combs was unloading her gun in the Capitol annex office when it went off. The bullet hit the floor and ricocheted toward a bookshelf, according to WHAS11.

She was quoted as saying, “I am a gun owner. It happens,” which is a profoundly stupid statement. Responsible gun owners make sure it never happens. It’s part of the deal.

If “it happens,” you are ipso facto not a responsible gun owner.

These people are nuts.

Courtesy is essential in relationships.

Crime scene tape still surrounds the home of Laura and Chris Rains as deputies try to piece together what happened in the moments leading up to Laura’s death.

Deputies say Laura, 26, was shot in the head by her 25-year-old husband around 6 p.m. Monday.

Chris Rains told investigators his wife was handing him a pistol when it went off.

All snark aside, this sort of stuff is sad and far too common. (Don’t believe me? Set up a Google alert for “accidental shooting” and permutations thereof.)

Be polite when dining out.

John Cassata, 70, of Fairport, was showing his .38-caliber handgun to a friend, Charles Raab, 67, while sitting in the Cottage Hotel during the lunch hour on Saturday when the gun discharged, sending a bullet through Cassata’s hand, ricocheting off his leg and grazing Raab’s ankle, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Witnesses said the shooting left Cassata bleeding heavily and repeating, “I have a permit. I have a permit,” referring to his pistol.

He’s been charged with reckless endangerment and other counts.

Now, about those intelligence tests for gun licenses . . . .

Travel the highway of courtesy.

The incident happened about 8 p.m. as Hector Rosina, 19, of Tampa drove north onto the interstate in a 2004 Dodge Neon at Fletcher Avenue. As he merged onto the highway, a Cadillac CTS cut him off, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Both cars continued north on I-275, the Neon in the center lane and the Cadillac in the outside lane.

As they approached Bearss Avenue, Rosina changed to the outside lane, cutting off the Cadillac, troopers said. The Cadillac then tailgated him before the cars paralleled each other.

Rosina and the other driver yelled and exchanged obscene hand gestures, troopers said. Then, the Cadillac driver fired a gun.
