Be polite amongst your friends.

A southeast Missouri high school student is dead after an accidental shooting in a school parking lot.

(snip)

The gun was one of two firearms in a truck owned by the grandfather of one of the teens. The sheriff said Robert was shot when one of his friends tried to pass him the gun and it accidentally discharged.

More guns will prevent this from happening to others.

Cleanliness is next to politeness.

The 911 call said that a 55-year-old man had been shot by an acquaintance that was looking over a handgun when it went off. Police say the victim, identified as Joseph M. Pastorelli Sr., was hit by a single round.

(snip)

Police interviewed several people inside the home at the time. Investigators believe it happened while several guns were being cleaned after they had recently been fired at a shooting range.

We have clearly reached the shooting singularity. Guns keep going off on their ownsomes, without human intervention, if you can believe what you read.

Politeness is an international language.

A Frenchman shot his son three times after mistaking him for a blackbird raiding the family cherry tree. The story is just the latest in a long line of tragic and freak shooting accidents in France.

A Frenchman aged in his 70s noticed some rustling in his cherry tree tree on Saturday night in north-western France and, assuming it was hungry blackbirds pillaging his fruit, he pulled out his shotgun and opened fire.

So is stupid.

Cleanliness is next to politeness:

Authorities continue to investigate the death of a Gaffney woman whose husband said he accidentally shot her as he cleaned his shotgun.

(snip)

(Cherokee County Coroner Dennis–ed.) Fowler says Pennington’s husband told investigators his 12-gauge shotgun accidentally fired.

Where are those “responsible gun owners” the NRA keeps talking about?

At the Heels of the Heeled 0

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel’s James E. Causey spends a day with someone who openly packs heat, a whatchamaycallem open-carrier who is concerned, he says, with self-defense. A nugget:

Sajdowitz let me tag along with him recently as he open carried on the Milwaukee’s south side. He told me before we left that I probably would get more “looks” as a “big, black guy with dreadlocks” than he would as a white guy with a gun on his hip. Sadly, he was right.

I wonder what it’s like to feel the need to be armed wherever you go, to walk the aisles of Target and Walmart and even your local bank wrapped in fear . . . .

Neighborly politeness.

Steven Justin Ayers was celebrating the arrival of his new baby at the home he and his wife had just bought in September when a bizarre accident—one that an officer labels as having “one in infinity” odds—took his life. The 33-year-old guitar teacher, his wife, their 3-day-old baby, and family members were gathered Tuesday night at the home in Panama City, Fla., when a bullet entered the home and struck Ayers in the back of the head, killing him. Police arrived and found neighbor Charles Edward Shisler, 62, in his backyard; he lives in a home directly behind the Ayers, the officer tells WJHG. Shisler, at first “extremely belligerent,” ultimately admitted to the shooting but said it was an accident, the News Herald reports.

“The damn gun doesn’t usually shoot,” he said, according to the arrest report. “You have to squeeze the hell out of the trigger to shoot it.”

In more news of the polite, at least one person knew to check whether his gun was loaded. It was.

A Penn Hills man told police he was checking to see whether one of his guns was loaded when it fired, striking and killing his friend, according to court documents.

Now, about those intelligence tests . . . .

Another polite gun that decided to initiate politeness all on its ownsome . . . .

Muskingum County investigators are calling the fatal shooting of a boy this afternoon a terrible accident.

Family members identified the victim as 11-year-old Lucas Templin. They say the Tri Valley fifth grader was playing at his best friend’s Fifth Street home when a gun went off.

Footloose, fancy-free, and extremely polite:

Police were called to the store around 12:30 p.m. and found the man sitting on the tailgate of his truck with a gunshot wound to his right foot. The man, L.C. Williams, said the holster recently broke and he was carrying his concealed weapon in his waistband.

As he was approaching his truck, the gun fell out of his waistband, hit his foot and discharged, according to Orlando police.

(These folks parody themselves.)

If you must play with your phallic doppelganger, it’s polite to do so only when you are not behind the wheel.

A concealed carry permit holder accidentally shot himself and another man while sitting in the passenger seat of a car on the city’s East Side, Cleveland police said.

(snip)

The bullet ripped through the gun owner’s hand before it passed through the driver’s right leg and lodged in his left leg, police said.

Misdirection Play: The Psychology of Suicide Shooters Dept. 0

It’s not what sets them off that matters, as David Atkins explains. A nugget (emphasis added):

Without a mass killing device, a pathetic misogynist is just a pathetic misogynist. Without a mass killing device, an angry theocrat is just an angry theocrat, be it Christian or Muslim. Without a mass killing device, paranoid conspiracy theorists and trenchcoat-wearning kids are just disaffected outsiders.

It’s not the motive. It’s never about the motive. It’s always about the gun.

Be polite when you potty.

Two guys come home from the grocery store and see a third guy standing in the front yard of one of their houses, urinating. They tell him not to do that because there are children in the house. Plus, they probably already fertilized the lawn this year.

So, the peeing guy take offense at being told where the hell he can pee so he pulls a gun and . . .

The gun jammed and no one was killed, but the homeowner caught three slugs.

There’s nothing quite like brotherly politeness.

A six-year-old child is recovering from a reported accidental shooting.

Ector County Sheriff deputies say the child was accidentally shot by his 15-year-old sibling.

Politeness shows potential.

Several Rowan County schools went into lock-down Wednesday after a man called Morgan Elementary School saying he was going to shoot people at noon.

In this case, the potential was not realized.

Police are searching for a suspect.
